Anti-reflection coating for convex surfaces (AX Coating)
A coating technology that makes uniform vacuum deposition thickness at the peripheral areas and central areas
-
Lenses having large curvature on convex surface, which are used for wide angle lenses, tend to receive unnecessary light coming into the angle of view due to wide angle lens design.
Anti-reflection coating preventing unnecessary light is applied on lens surface at the vacuum deposition process. However, coating thickness at the peripheral areas generally tends to be thinner. Therefore, vacuum deposition technology, which enables to apply uniform coating to whole area, is needed.
Tamron has developed new vacuum deposition technology and created anti-reflection coating for convex surfaces (AX Coating) which has uniform coating thickness and contributes to achieve a sufficient coating performance.
The needs of cameras with wide angle lenses are expanding for surveillance, automotive, and panorama camera applications. By utilizing AX Coating, suitable performance for each application is sufficiently exerted.
