One of the great features of modern mirrorless cameras is that they are compact compared to the cameras of old therefore one of the most important things I look for in a new lens is size.
There’s no point having a lovely, compact body and then having to carry around a large bag because the lens is so big.
When the new TAMRON 17-50mm F4 for Sony E-mount arrived, I was delighted that this was a lens that I could truly consider as my go to, all-rounder lens.
I love shooting with ultra wide-angle lenses, I love the perspective they give especially in narrow streets and lanes, however I am often frustrated by the fact that most ultra wide-angle lenses only go up to 35mm at most and that is always just a bit too short for the images I want to capture.
The new TAMRON 17-50mm F4 goes a long way to remove that frustration. It may not seem like a huge difference going from 35mm to 50mm, but I assure you it is significantly different, especially if you like to capture images of people in their environment.
When looking for an all-round lens versatility is key and that is exactly what the new TAMRON 17-50mm F4 provides.
As a travel photographer one of my favourite things to do is to walk down strange alleys and lanes amongst the hustle and bustle of people and they myriad of shops selling all manner of colourful things. This is where the new TAMRON 17-50mm F4 really shines. Whether you want to zoom out to 17mm and capture all that amazing life in your frame or zoom in to 24, 35 or 50mm and capture slices of that life that tells a story.
Having a lens this versatile means less need to change lenses so you are always ready to capture those special images at a moment’s notice.
And at the end of the day, it’s the images we have captured that we cherish the most and any lens that helps us capture more images is a fantastic lens in my book.
