You can easily update to the latest firmware versions for both the lens and the TAP-in Console. When the lens is connected to the TAP-in Console that is linked with your computer, you can check whether you have the latest firmware version. If there is newer version available, you can update to it here.

[CAUTION]

・DO NOT disconnect the TAP-in Console from the computer while updating the firmware.

・While updating the firmware, DO NOT detach the lens from the TAP-in Console or operate the Lens Release button.

・While updating the firmware, DO NOT turn off the computer and avoid putting it in shutdown or sleep mode. Check the setup in advance, so that the computer won’t automatically shut down or go into sleep mode.

・To update the firmware, detach the tele-converter form the lens in advance.

・Do not use any other applications.

・Do not connect the TAP-in Console via a USB hub.

・If using a laptop computer, please make sure it is connected to an AC power adapter.

・To update the firmware, you must first connect the computer to the designated website.

・After updating to the latest firmware version, it is not possible to go back to the previous version.

◎Updating the lens firmware

After starting, the TAP-in Utility automatically checks to see whether a more up-to-date firmware version exists for the lens connected to the Console. If it does, the following screen will be displayed.

If you want to update the firmware, click the "OK" button. If not, click the "Cancel" button. If you select "OK", the update will start. Please continue updating according to the prompts in the dialog box.

<HINT>
Even if no update is indicated on the dialog screen, you can still run the program by clicking the Firmware Update button on the main screen.

[CAUTION]

When the lens firmware is updated, the customized data on the lens is canceled and reverts to factory default mode. If any setup has been customized for the lens, please read the customized data from the lens and save it on the computer in advance. After updating, write the customized data again onto the lens.

◎Updating the TAP-in Console firmware

・Firmware update failure:
If, for some reason, you experience a failure when updating the firmware, disconnect the TAP-in Console from the lens and try reconnecting it. If you cannot achieve a proper connection to the computer after reattaching the Console unit to the lens, please contact the Tamron Customer Service.
