The Headquarters ‘Mold Technology Center’ operates day and night exploring break-through mold technologies, and producing precision mold sets for plastic component manufacture, which are essential for lens production.

Laying the foundation for the manufacture of Tamron lenses : There are two large mold fabrication facilities located in the headquarters premises. The first is a fully automated line utilizing machining centers and operating 24 hours a day. This center has facilitated drastic reductions in mold production time. The second is a conventional line where craftsmanship plays a premium role. Together, these two facilities fabricate all metal molds and lay the foundation for the production of high-precision, high-quality lens components.

Laying the foundation for the manufacture of Tamron lenses : The mold facilities include an extensive set of equipment allowing the creation of all types of molds. Electric discharge machining is used to produce components with highly complicated geometries.

Laying the foundation for the manufacture of Tamron lenses : The accuracy of the molds determines the quality of the plastic components. To ensure quality, part geometries are measured to a micron order, differences identified, and adjustments made where necessary.
