Tamron’s mother factory is the Aomori Factory. Here, new technologies are combined with manufacturing expertise to create innovative production improvements. This, combined with skilled engineers who have inherited manufacturing know-how, builds the foundation for a dynamic, global mass production system that maintains Japanese quality standards.

  • Inheritance of extensive production engineering expertise
  • Mass production backed by wealth of knowledge and technology
  • Advancing the limits of lens manufacturing

Inheritance of extensive production engineering expertise : Fixtures and jigs are critical elements for sustaining efficient production. At the Namioka Site, tool manufacturing know-how is shared among expert workers to ensure consistent fabrication quality.

Inheritance of extensive production engineering expertise : Test plates are critical when inspecting the geometric integrity of lens elements. Tamron is one of handful manufacturers globally capable of fabricating test plates.

Inheritance of extensive production engineering expertise : The master test plate is the reference for those to be used for production. Its precision is inspected by means of specific rainbow-patterns called Newton fringes. Processing of test plates requires expert knowledge, skills, and in-depth expertise. Tamron ensures and maintains steady mass-production.

Mass production backed by wealth of knowledge and technology : The large number of molds used in overseas production are tested and validated here.*Mold sets manufacturing is now operated at Mold & Tooling Technology Center, the headquarters site.

Mass production backed by wealth of knowledge and technology : Maintenance of the molds is of significant importance. All critical components are calibrated in the order of microns to ensure the precision of the production parts.*Mold sets manufacturing is now operated at Mold & Tooling Technology Center, the headquarters site.

Mass production backed by wealth of knowledge and technology : Dedicated assembly robots are developed. Utilizing these, automation of fine component assembly has facilitated further improvements in mass production stability.*Mold sets manufacturing is now operated at Mold & Tooling Technology Center, the headquarters site.

Mass production backed by wealth of knowledge and technology : Technology for the manufacture of high-precision plastic lens elements advances on a day-to-day basis. Tamron continues to develop and integrate state-of-the-art technology to meet a wide range of market needs.*Mold sets manufacturing is now operated at Mold & Tooling Technology Center, the headquarters site.

Advancing the limits of lens manufacturing : The Namioka Site undertakes manufacturing of all kinds of lens elements. The Manufacturing process starts with primary grinding, followed by fine grinding and polishing. Accuracy is tightened in each step until designated geometric profiles and shapes are obtained.

Advancing the limits of lens manufacturing : Coatings suppress lens element surface reflections while protecting the lens itself. Coupled with continued investment in processing equipment, Tamron utilizes its extensive development expertise to produce advanced coatings such as the acclaimed eBAND coating.

Advancing the limits of lens manufacturing : Tamron was a pioneer in the development of aspherical lens elements that contribute to compensating for aberrations. Today Tamron's state-of-the-art facilities produce hybrid aspherical elements, glass-molded aspherical elements, and injection-molded aspherical elements.

Advancing the limits of lens manufacturing : Hybrid aspherical elements are fabricated by placing resin on a spherical glass element, shaping the resin using a precision mold, followed by curing. The elements are individually produced in a clean room maintained to the highest standards.

Advancing the limits of lens manufacturing : The Namioka Site manufactures test plates, both in spherical and flat shapes, and nearly all types of lens elements, including glass-molded and hybrid aspherical elements.

Advancing the limits of lens manufacturing : The Hirosaki Site, tasked with lens assembly, also undertakes metal processing using machining centers, lathes, and milling and drilling machines. High-precision cam barrels are also manufactured here.

Advancing the limits of lens manufacturing : Anodizing improves structural strength and external appearance of metal components. Proprietary technologies for the process have been developed to improve production efficiency.

Advancing the limits of lens manufacturing : Components manufactured in various plants are assembled at the Hirosaki Site after inspection. The assembly of a single lens may have as many as 250 components.

Advancing the limits of lens manufacturing : Flange-back focal distance adjustments are made during the manufacturing process. Each lens is individually calibrated with extreme precision. Careful and delicate inspection is carried out to guarantee product quality.

Advancing the limits of lens manufacturing : The repair section is also located at the Hirosaki Site. Assignment of expert technicians with in-depth lens knowledge enables lens repairs.
